Isaac’s Tower
Isaac’s Tower
Isaac Abromamovich was pretty confused. He had woken up that morning feeling much the same as he always did, which was groggy, grouchy and hungry. Not unusual for a thirteen year old boy.
He went to the bathroom, splashed his face and then stumbled downstairs to find his breakfast. After eating a bowl of cereal, he went back upstairs to get dressed, and begin the day. He thought it was going to be [tag]an ordinary day[/tag].
However.
When he got back to his room and started to get dressed, he noticed something rather [tag]peculiar[/tag]. His room was a completely different room than what he’d left. His bed was in a different position, and not the same size, and the colors of the walls were violet, rather than the pale orange that he had chosen just a year ago, when his parents redecorated it for him.
His closet, when he went to open it to find his clothes, contained, well, not his, but girl’s clothes! Oh Yuck! What was he going to do? After rifling through the closet, he found a pair of jeans that sort of fit him, and a denim shirt that would have fit just about anyone, so he got dressed, went down stairs and gathered his books and stuff for [tag]school[/tag]. As he was about to go into the kitchen for his lunch bucket, he noticed something else. Weird. There was a[tag] dog wagging her tale[/tag], in the hallway, as if waiting to play, or go for a walk.
Isaac and his parents didn’t own a dog! The dog greeted him as though he was her best friend, and that was that.
Not really knowing what else to do, Isaac scouted around and found a length of sturdy string in his mother’s kitchen drawer, (you know, the drawer that has EVERYTHING in it) and took the pup for a walk down the back lane, and then put her into his (mauve!) room. He would have liked to be able to ask his [tag]parents[/tag] what was going on, but they just were not there. Weird again.
Isaac Abromamovich was very confused now. He looked at the kitchen clock and realized he’d better hurry, or else he’d be late for school. Off he went.
Once on his way, more strange stuff happened. I’ll let Isaac tell you, himself.
“I feel kind of strange. Nothing feels the same as it usually does. With my room being so changed, and a new dog in the house, I don’t know what is going on. I wish I knew where my parents are. Maybe it’s just a practical joke they’re playing on me. I guess I’ve played a lot on them! That’s it, just a joke. I’ll go to school, and when I get home, everything will be back to normal and we’ll laugh a lot.”
As Isaac walked, he became concerned. It was taking him an enormous time to get to school. In fact, he was walking and walking and well, getting nowhere. He started to realize that this was no practical joke. This might be more serious than he thought. He started to wonder what he might have done to create this mess.
He thought about the dog. Had he ever hurt a dog?
“I once scared a dog and shooed it away.” He thought.
He thought about the ‘girlie room’.
“I teased a girl and called her a sissy, and made her cry”. He thought.
He thought about his Mom and Dad, and started to cry.
“I was mad, and told them I wished they were dead!” He thought, and thought, and then realized he had made a bad mistake. He had made a tower of mistakes, which he wished he could tumble down.
Isaac hadn’t made a [tag]very tall tower[/tag]. All he needed to do was: Talk to the dog, and pet her.
Talk to the girl, and tell her he was sorry.
Find his parents, who were always there, and tell them he loved them, and was glad they weren’t dead.
Isaac’s Tower fell to the ground, his room went back to normal, and the pup stayed with them for the rest of her life.
